Does ADHD symptoms and computer games somehow can affect each other?
Research and studies explain that there are various behavioral and mental disorders that can be identified among individuals. Among these disorders that can be identified is the ADHD. This disorder is commonly identified among children, usually in their pre-school years. Yet, the fact stated does not exempt adolescents and adults from being diagnosed with the disorder.
A child identified with ADHD suffers from the inattentive and hyperactive symptoms of the disorder and these happen unconsciously.
Children having the disorder usually have inattention and hyperactivity when it comes to play time. In today’s world of advancement and ever changing society, children have been engaged with various activities influenced by high technology. These activities children usually are involved with and have fun with include computer games.
Computer games have both advantages and disadvantages among children. There are activities that support their mental earning. On the other hand, there are activities that corrupt their minds. Inattention and hyperactivity symptoms of children usually get worse when they indulge themselves in computer games. Their inattention increases because their time is much allotted in computer games rather than giving time on their studies and other productive activities.
Computer games result in negative influences like violence and disrespect. Their inattention becomes worse and their hyperactivity become related and partnered with the activities reflected on the computer games. These computer games usually exhibit fighting scenes and these are not good considering their very young age.
Influences are also caused by their friends. They are usually encouraged by their peers and the engagement follows. Hyperactivity in children also goes pacing with their involvement in computer games. Their inattention happens because they do not have time and concentration on other activities which are more important and must be prioritized.
Parents find it hard to get the attention of their children once they are attracted to computer games and other advanced activities. Their restlessness is shifted on the computer games. Not only that their inattentive and hyperactive symptoms are affected, their health is also affected. Children who spend most of their time in computer games neglect to take their meals on time and worse, may even skip meals. It is very important that children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder must keep up with their health. Healthy and balanced lifestyle is a major factor in the treatment of the symptoms of the disorder, especially when undergoing therapies and medications. Children must properly be guided by their parents and their teachers whenever they are in school.
